The Karpinsky Institute has inaugurated the 10th Karpinsky Geological Class in Ulaanbaatar, reinforcing the long-standing scientific ties between Russia and Mongolia. Hosted by the Institute of Geology at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, this permanent platform builds on a century of collaborative resource development. Led by specialists from both Mongolia and Russia, the program offers advanced professional training and links academic coursework with real-world exploration projects. Ultimately, this initiative creates an essential modern framework for collaborative research, technical exchange, and regional capacity building.

Karpinsky Geological Class At the Institute of Geology Mongolian Academy of Sciences

On September 21st, the Institute of Geology at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences hosted a technical seminar by renowned economic geologist Dr. Douglas John Kirwin. His lectures provided advanced insights into the Oyu Tolgoi Porphyry Copper System, Mongolian magmatic cupola textures, and South Korean epithermal deposits. Additionally, Dr. Kirwin addressed critical industry methodologies, emphasizing that optimized teamwork and personnel selection are foundational requirements for global mineral exploration success.

At the GICA 2026 International Geological Conference, Research Fellow Tuvshinjargal Battogtokh from Institute of Geology received the "Best Poster Award" for the study "Petrogenesis of a Late Paleozoic Arc-related Layered Ultramafic-Mafic Intrusion in Northern Mongolia: Preliminary Stratigraphic and Geochemical Constraints." The research provides critical stratigraphic and geochemical insights into the petrological and tectonic evolution of arc-related magmatism within the CAOB, advancing the academic understanding of Paleozoic mantle-derived melts and fractional crystallization sequences.

Tuvshinjargal Battogtokh received "Best Poster Award" At the GICA 2026 International Geological Conference

On October 9th, the Institute of Geology at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences hosted a geological seminar by Prof. S. Jargalan titled "Rare Earth Elements: Mineralization, Research, and Exploration." The lecture provided an advanced metallogenic analysis of critical mineral systems, evaluating the geochemical processes governing rare earth element (REE) enrichment in magmatic-hydrothermal systems. Prof. Jargalan integrated modern analytical research with strategic exploration parameters, providing crucial academic frameworks for assessing Mongolia's technology-critical metal potential.
